Magnolia Middle School

School sees Value in Outdoor Spaces

The central core of Magnolia Middle School is the courtyard.

School administrators and teachers were passionate about creating a space within the campus that allowed for outdoor dining, recreation and learning. The courtyard that we designed did all of the above.

With a central amphitheater, students are able to congregate on the tiers of the masonry structure and listen to their instructors teach. The amphitheater bisects the space, creating open areas on either side for classroom separation during lunch periods. Trees and vegetation soften the edges to make for a comfortable, shaded space that students and teachers can enjoy.
